Executive Leadership
McCormick//Hiatt/Small/Tempero The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is led by Frank McCormick, PhD, FRS, Director, and a Director's Group, comprising Deputy Directors Robert A. Hiatt, MD, PhD (Director of Population Sciences); Eric Small, MD (Director of Clinical Sciences); and Margaret Tempero, MD (Director of Research Programs); as well as Peter Carroll, MD, Director of Strategic Planning and Clinical Services; Lynda Jacobsen, Director of Administration; Daniel Pinkel, PhD, Director of Shared Resources; and Gerrie Shields, Director of Clinical Services Administration.

An Executive Committee additionally includes Associate Directors for Alliance Management (Teri Melese, PhD); Community Education and Outreach (Rena J. Pasick, DrPH); Health Care Disparities (Eliseo Pérez-Stable, MD); Medical Informatics (Laura Esserman, MD, MBA); and Professional Education (Martin McMahon, PhD); as well as a Chief Informatics Officer and Director of Translational Informatics (Sorena Nadaf).

Guiding the Executive Committee's work are advisory groups, including an Institutional Advisory Board, External Advisory Board, and Community Advisory Board.

Clinical Operations
A Clinical Cancer Center Governing Board, chaired by Peter Carroll, MD, comprises departmental chairs of clinical oncology programs at UCSF/Mount Zion, as well as representatives from the UCSF Medical Center, School of Medicine, and Medical Group. A Clinical Cancer Center Operations Group, which reports to the Governing Board, is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations and is chaired by Mack Roach, MD.

Multidisciplinary Programs
Programmatically, the Cancer Center's work is concentrated among highly multidisciplinary areas, each of which includes lab scientists, clinical investigators, epidemiologists, and providers of patient care. Collaboration across disciplines ensures that insights gained in the lab can move quickly and effectively to cancer patients' bedsides.
