Art for Recovery holds quilt workshops in hospitals and community venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Outreach to underserved communities include workshops in Marin City and the Canal District of San Rafael, the Bay View Hunter's Point, Western Addition, Potrero Hill and Visitacion Valley districts of San Francisco and the San Francisco County jail (working with women prisoners who are touched by breast cancer.)

Art for Recovery provides all of the materials, expertise, inspiration and enough volunteers so that each participant feels important. The quilt blocks are finished and sewn together in an 8x8 foot quilt by quilters (some who have had breast cancer). We serve men, women, children, friends and family members who are touched by this disease. We serve approximately 30 participants at each of the four to six workshops presented each year. Each quilt remains with Art For Recovery, although they are available for display in the communities in which they were created. The quilts also travel throughout the United States at various venues (including the National Institutes of Health) and are displayed each year at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in San Francsico. The Art for Receovery Breast Cancer Quilts project has produced 60 quilts and will continue as long as there are women and families coping with the disease.
