NEW! EXERCISE OF THE MONTH

Chair Sit to Stand

Wall_PushUpWall Push-Ups benefit your lower body and core muscles. They can be done anywhere and require only a stable chair. Your body weight offers the resistance you need. Do this exercise a few times weekly on alternate days in addition to your regular cardiovascular routine.

EXERCISE: Begin seated on edge of a sturdy chair. Good posture, feet grounded on floor. Push through the feet engage the quadricep (thighs) and core. Stand up. Try not to rock forward or push off of chair with your hands. Slowly push hips back and control your return to the chair. Repeat 15 to 20 times OR for 60-90 seconds (as many as you can do with control).

All UCSF cancer patients are entitled to an individual consultation with a certified exercise counselor. Sessions are held on Thursday afternoons or Friday mornings. To book your UCSF exercise counseling session, call (415) 514-6430.
