"Prostate Cancer Survivorship: Opportunities to Improve Communication"

Many studies of African American men’s knowledge and attitudes about prostate cancer have focused on screening and early detection. Few studies have investigated African American prostate cancer survivors’ overall experience with prostate cancer or their expectations for treatment, including their knowledge and understanding of treatment options, corresponding side effects, involvement in treatment decision-making and patient-provider communication. Dr. Palmer will be discussing her research in prostate cancer treatment decision-making and how patient-provider communication may play an important role.
