On Saturday, September 27th, the UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center will host the annual event Taste for the Cure: A Taste of Science, a day of discovery focused on exploring the impacts of food and science on breast health. The event will be held at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, and will feature food tastings from local chefs, nutrition and exercise tips, and cooking and science demonstrations.

In morning and afternoon panels Laura Esserman, MD, MBA will moderate interactive discussions with breast cancer specialists about personalized screening and new developments in targeted treatment. The UCSF Breast Care Center pre-medical interns will present posters on current research topics in breast cancer, from the I-SPY 2 trial to the interactions between tumor and their microbiomes. Members of the laboratory of Laura van ‘t Veer, PhD will give a laboratory science demonstration.
