Current Limited Submission Opportunities (Applications through LSO office)
  • LOI Due: June 4:
    UC President's Research Catalyst Award
    Research proposals must involve a minimum of three UC campuses and address topics that have the potential to improve human lives, society, the environment, or the economy, enhance culture and community, or provide other public benefit. Awards are open to all fields and are made on a competitive basis.
  • Koman Research Grants
    • Pre-application Due: June 17:
      Career Catalyst Research Grant
      Applications are open to junior faculty members working at academic institutions who have no more than six years of experience within their faculty appointment Funding Level: Up to $300,000 over 2 years or $450,000 over 3 years.
    • Pre-application Due: June 17:
      Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDF)
      Applications are open to postdoctoral fellows who have completed their doctoral degree and are at academic institutions, no more than 5 years after the date of their degree confirmation, or 5 years after completion of their residency (for physicians). Funding Level: Up to $120,000 over 2 years or $180,000 over 3 years.
    • Pre-application Due: June 17:
      Graduate Training in Disparities Research (GTDR) Grants
      Intended to establish and/or to sustain a training program for graduate students who are seeking careers dedicated to understanding and eliminating disparities in breast cancer outcomes across population groups. Up to $135,000 per year for up to 3 years for a total of $405,000.
  • LOI Due: July 1:
    Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP)
    Research priorities and funding investments are designed to focus on under-funded and emerging critical areas of study in the area of tobacco-related disease and tobacco control research.  All applications must address one or more of the program’s five research priorities: Environmental Exposure, Early Diagnosis, Regulatory Science, Disparities, Cessation, and Neuroscience, Industry Influence
  • Deadline:  July 13:
    VA Care Coordination for Improved Outcomes Challenge 
    A total of $300,000 will be awarded in prizes to the winning ideas for tools and processes that can help give a more holistic view for all treating clinicians focused on the wellness of the patient.

Industry Partnerships

Office of Sponsored Research: The Industry Contracts Division (ICD) is responsible for negotiating and signing all industry research contracts between UCSF and Industry Sponsors. This includes clinical trial agreements, material transfers agreements (incoming materials of all types and outgoing clinical specimen or data), sponsored research agreements, grants (including UC Discovery and SBIR/STTR), and confidentiality agreements.
