Indications for referral:

Patients on an immunotherapy regimen for treatment of their cancer who are experiencing concerning side effects are appropriate for referral. This includes individuals with:

  • Side effects that require an interruption of immunotherapy treatment
  • Side effects that result in an interest in eligibility for clinical trials investigating mechanisms of toxicity and novel methods of toxicity prevention/management
  • Development of immune-related toxicity that is refractory to standard management
  • Development of immune-related toxicity that is chronic and requires subspecialty, multidisciplinary input
