Scientific Accomplishments

Selected highlights from the Program members are:

  • Dr. Matthay and coworkers showed a very high rate of survival among patients with intermediate-risk neuroblastoma using a substantially reduced duration and doses of chemotherapeutic agents (Baker et al., N Engl J Med, 2010). 

  • Dr. Weiss and colleagues identified a novel; signaling pathway from EGF-R to mTOR, independent of Akt in glioma (Fan et al., Sci Signal, 2009).

  • Drs. Seo and colleagues showed that vorinostat increases expression of norepinephrine transporters in neuroblastoma (More et al., Clin Cancer Res, 2011).

  • Dr. Dubois identified racial and ethnic differences amongst patients with Ewings sarcoma (Worch et al., Cancer, 2010).

  • Dr. Goldsby reported second solid malignancies among children diagnosed with malignant bone tumors (Goldsby et al., Cancer, 2008).

  • Drs. Loh and Shannon and colleagues identified germline CBL mutations in juvenile myelomonocytic leukemias (Loh et al., Blood, 2009).
