Research Summary

Dr. Mariza Daras is a neuro-oncologist who cares for patients with brain tumors, including primary brain tumors such as gliomas and meningiomas. She is also experienced in diagnosing and treating cancers that have spread to the brain or elsewhere in the central nervous system from a tumor in another part of the body.

Daras' research focuses on promising new treatments for both metastatic and primary brain tumors. She is also interested in furthering the use of advanced imaging techniques to guide treatment and detect progression early, with the goal of developing more targeted therapies, including immunotherapies (treatments that boost the immune system's ability to fight cancer).

Daras earned her medical degree from Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed a residency in neurology at Duke University Medical Center, serving as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in neurology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, serving as chief fellow.

Daras is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Society for Neuro-Oncology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
