The surge of cancer screening in the U.S. has increased the detection of precancerous lesions that are often low-risk. Some experts now argue that cancer is being overdiagnosed. WSJ's Monika Auger reports.

On Saturday, September 27th, the UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center will host the annual event Taste for the Cure: A Taste of Science, a day of discovery focused on exploring the impacts of food and science on breast health. The event will be held at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, and will feature food tastings from local chefs, nutrition and exercise tips, and cooking and science demonstrations.

The BCC is excited to announce the start of the TARGIT-US Registry Trial, a national registry trial that evaluates the use of targeted intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). Spearheaded by UCSF's own Dr. Michael Alvarado, the national TARGIT-US Registry Trial is now enrolling at UCSF, John Muir Medical Center, Columbia University Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center and will soon be open to accrual at over 20 sites across the nation.
