Research Summary

My research interests are primarily focused on statistical methods and implementation in piecewise constant estimation for prediction, survival analysis, classification, and cancer epidemiology, as in the estimation of absolute risk in subsample case-control studies. I have over ninety publications in addition to authoring two book chapters and several freely available software packages for the analysis of high-dimensional data. I am an elected member of the International Statistical Institute and an Associate Editor for NeuroOncology Practice. I am the PI of an NCI-funded R01 to develop statistical methods for risk prediction in cancer. Until 2009, I was the PI of an NCI-funded career award (K22 CA123146) for developing statistical methods for predicting survival outcomes based on genomic data, as well as the PI of a Yale Skin SPORE Career Development Award. I was also PI for a Scholar’s Award granted by the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation’s Clinical and Translational Science Award, as well as the Co-Director of the Bioinformatics/Biostatistics CORE for the Yale Skin SPORE. I also served as the statistical consultant for the UCSF SPORE in Breast Cancer for over ten years. In my current roles as the Director of Biostatistics for the UCSF Brain SPORE and P01, I advise study design and modeling, as well as analyze data from all seven projects including imaging, genetics, genomics, and immunology.
