The Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Community Advisory Board (CAB).
Held at UCSF Mission Bay, the celebration was attended by current and former CAB members, longstanding community partners, and leaders and staff from the HDFCCC Office of Community Engagement. The event honored the pioneers who founded the CAB and recognized two decades of groundbreaking collaboration and impact.
Established in 2005 by Dr. Frank Staggers Sr., the CAB was created to bridge the gap between the cancer center and the communities it serves—ensuring that community voices, priorities, and advocacy remain central to its work. This model has sustained 20 years of meaningful progress and continues to guide the CAB’s vision for the decades ahead.
We invite you to watch the anniversary video tribute created in honor of this milestone.
"I really enjoy the collaborations, the partnerships, and the friendships that I have through my engagement with the CAB," said Roxanna Bautista, co-chair of the Community Advisory Board (CAB), in her video statement. "I believe as the CAB grows, it will continue to remain a crucial link between the UCSF Cancer Center and the communities it serves."
