Prostate Tissue Core

The Prostate Tissue Core (PTC) serves as the organizing structure for managing human tissue, biospecimens, and pathology resources for the UCSF Prostate Cancer SPORE. The PTC supports SPORE investigators by facilitating access to high-quality tissue resources, pathology review, and preclinical models that advance prostate cancer research.

Model Virtual Repository

The PTC Model Virtual Repository (MVR) is a curated listing of preclinical models available to SPORE investigators. The goal of the MVR is to make well-validated, representative models easier to identify and access across projects.

The repository includes cell lines, organoid cultures, and patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), along with key information such as model origin, salient phenotype, published reference, and contact information for the resource owner. Where available, the listing also includes validation details such as STR profiling and mycoplasma testing.

Dr. Donna Peehl serves as the primary contact for model inquiries and can help direct investigators to appropriate resources. The PTC also assists with material transfer agreements to support access to new models.

Genitourinary Tissue Utilization Committee

Tissue bank material and data generated from its analysis may be used by investigators whose proposals are approved by the Genitourinary Tissue Utilization Committee (GUTUC). This oversight committee reviews proposals for feasibility, prioritization, regulatory compliance, and alignment with SPORE and UCSF Prostate Cancer Program goals.

Investigators should submit tissue requests and related materials for review before accessing banked specimens or associated data.
