Cancer Immunology & Immunotherapy

Program Leaders

Education and Training Liaison: Hilde Schjerven, PhD

Community Engagement Liaison: Katy Tsai, MD

The goal of the Cancer Immunology & Immunotherapy Program is to advance the understanding of the interplay between the immune system and cancer to discover new strategies for immune-based immunotherapies and to mitigate therapeutic resistance. This is accomplished through translational research that spans from discovery bench science to clinical application and back.

In pursuit of the program's scientific goal, Cancer Immunology & Immunotherapy Program members engage in research, education and training, and community engagement activities aligned under the following aims:

  • Aim 1: To define the mechanistic interplay between cancer and the immune system
  • Aim 2: To advance therapeutic interventions to improve outcomes with cancer immunotherapy
  • Aim 3: To identify mechanisms of resistance to cancer immunotherapy
